Rosary

The rosary  at St. Theresa's was the biggest turn out for a rosary for one person the church has ever seen. Logan and his family are so blessed to be surrounded by so many great people. We can't begin to express our love and gratitude to everyone who attended and prayed for Logan. We don't have control over alot of things in this situation, but the one thing we can do is really the main thing that will aid in Logans recovery and that is prayer. While we have been staying close to the hospital for the past week we've had the pleasure of being visited by several people who have been in similiar situations with severe head trauma and made full recoveries. We were told that when they woke up they had strong urges to contact friends and family members who they had not seen in awhile because they had moved away or  just lost touch as people tend to do as they get older. They would find out later that this friend or relative had said a rosary with their congregation or dedicated some prayers to them before each service. When you hear stories like this it really puts in perspective how powerful a whole group of people praying together towards a common goal can be. The bible says to love your neighbor as yourself and with all those people giving up their time and puting aside their own struggles to pray  for Logans it is really amazing.  It is our firm believe that Logan heard each and everyone of you and most importantly God did.

Logans condition

This morning the neorologist said that Logan will start physical therapy as well as working with a speech therapist. Logan is still in an unresponsive coma but the doctors feel that due to his more frequent involuntary movements that he could benefit from therapy. Logan is still in very serious condition but we are encouraged by this news and still remain optimistic about his recovery. We continue to thank everyone for their support and comments and ask that they keep them coming. We also ask everyone to voice their displeasure with judge Carters decision to release one of Logans attackers. The only way to stop this kind of negligence is to be as vocal as possible in response to yet another one of Carters poor decisions. Eventualy we hope to organize some kind of protest hopefuly we can get alot of people to turn out and voice their displeasure in  front of the court house.

suspect released

Kplc reports that Jake Tullos was released from jail tonight. Someone  posted a 500,000 personal assurity bond which means no money was payed but someone pinky swore that the accused would be in court or they would have to pay this bond.  What is the purpose of setting bail if its only to be undermined later? After all the hardwork from the police department the accused is let go with nothing more than a signature and a promise. To say the least this is the most sickening news we've heard since hearing of Logans attack. While Logan is being fed through a tube tonight the accused is free to do as he pleases.  Even if we were to believe this person or persons has 500,000 dollars is that what one sherrif deputies life and or well being is worth? Tonight it would appear so. We encourage everyone to voice their displeasure with this judges decision and email the editor of the Lake Charles American press. Bdower@americanpress.com

August 13, 2009

There has been a second arrest made in Logan's case.  Police think that they now have in custody the two men responsible for Logan's injury.  Thanks to all law enforcement involved.

Logan continues to be unresponsive and evaluations of his condition are ongoing at this point.  The doctor has scheduled a procedure for the 25th of August to put in a permanent shunt which will replace the temporary drain that he currently has.  The shunt will help to alleviate any extra pressure caused by excess fluid in the cranial area.

A bit of good news......Logan is requiring less ventilation as of today.  His settings are minimal.

Thanks for the outpouring of support that we have received from family and friends.  Your love and prayers continue to sustain us in this most difficult time.

Logs food for thought

Since Logan Has been away from us we have missed his wit and wisdom. So that we don't forget here are a few of his more philosophical thoughts on life.

Logdogism #1  If life hands you lemons you make lemonade. If life hands you a broken freezer and all your shrimp and okra melted, Then Nicole better put on some rice.

Logdogism #2 Two wongs don't make a right, but they better have my dry cleaning by Thursday.

Logdogism #3 I am not my brothers keeper....until I started working for the sheriffs department.

Arrest Made, More to Come

Lake Charles City Police announced this afternoon that they have arrested Anthony Chaumont of Sulphur in connection with this case. Chaumont is being held on charges of attempted manslaughter, and his bail has been set by Judge Carter at $50,000. Chaumont is also being held for violation of parole and therefore is not eligible for bail at this time. Chaumont was released in June of 2009 from the Calcasieu Correctional Facility after serving 20 months on a 7 year charge. There is an investigation into the possibility that Logan was targeted by Chaumont for being a deputy, in which additional charges would probably be sought.

At least two other individuals are being sought in connection with the case. During the press conference, Don Dixon (Chief of Police - Lake Charles) stated that "Logan was sucker punched" by one or more of the individuals being sought. The City Police are following several leads and still interviewing witnesses. In addition, Don Dixon repeatedly called for any other witnesses or anyone of knowledge regarding this case to come forward.

If you have any information regarding this case, call the Lake Charles Police at 337-491-1311.

Donations

Many people have been asking about making monetary donations.  An account has been set up at Cameron State Bank for donations for Logan's medical expenses.  You can go to any Cameron State Bank and tell them that you would like to donate to the Logan Armistead Benefit Account.  Thanks everyone & keep praying!

We Love You Logan!

Btw, thanks to Laken for setting up the account.

August 11, 2009...

Last night Logan's drainage tube was removed, and his head dressings/bandages were taken off.  Swelling has gone down some more as well.  He is still considered to be in an unresponsive coma.

Logan is surronded by family & friends who continue to talk, laugh, & reminisce with him.

We would like to thank everyone for the continued prayers and support.  Keep them coming!
