Logan has begun being fed through the PEG line, that was inserted during the procedure Friday. The external drain, placed in during that same operation is working well also. He continues to remain in a coma, and has not responded to any commands. Once again, thanks to everyone for all of your prayers and support.

Logan just got back to his room from this afternoons surgery. He actually had 2 procedures done during this operation. The first procedure was called an external ventriculostomy, which is a drain to prevent excess fluid from accumulating in the brain. The second procedure was for the PEG, which is in the stomach as the feeding line. During the operation, his staples (~70) were also removed. While he has been out of the operation <2 hours, it seems like everything went extremely well.

Friday morning Logan is scheduled to have the PEG line put in. The last 2 attempts were unsuccessful, but hopefully this time it can happen. This will mean the feeding line in his nose can be taken out. Also scheduled today is the external shunt, which allows drainage of any fluid buildup. His fever seems to be under control, but anyone going into the room must still continue to put on gown, gloves and mask. This will continue for a while. Thanks again for all of your prayers and acts of kindness.

Yesterday (8/25/09) Logan was moved to Dubois on the 5th floor of St. Pats hospital. Everyone is still required to wear a gown and mask to enter his room. His fever has gone down and his infection seems to be responding to medication, as for as his neurological condition he is unchanged. Logan still doesn't respond to commands and is working with a speech therapist to try and get him to swallow. He had a CT scan this morning and we will hopefuly know the results tonight. Logan was visited again by the guys on his shift and it is great to see the support from his coworkers. We continue to thank everyone for their prayers and support and ask everyone to keep praying!!!

Logan is still running a low-grade fever. His doctor at Lafayette General is willing to transfer him to Lake Charles if the doctor there will accept him . We are unsure if L.C. will take him while he is still has fever; we should find out tomorrow. The shunt procedure could be done after we get to Lake Charles. Logan is moving his right arm and leg and opens his eyes, but as yet does not track objects or respond to commands. The rash is almost gone now and he seems to be comfortable. Tomorrow's update should have more definitive information.

There is an article about Logan in today's American Press in the Sunday Talk-The Public Speaks section. It is in section E, page 5.

Logan developed a rash on his back and abdomen accompanied by fever. He also tested positive for a strain of bacteria that does not respond readily to antibiotics. It's a hospital acquired infection ; an unfortunately common occurance in the ICU. The gastroenterologist tried again today to put the peg in Logan's stomach to replace the tube in his nose, but was not succesful. As a result of the bacterial infection, only immediate family are allowed to visit. We hope that the infection can be taken care of so that Logan can have visitors again soon. The shunt procedure that is scheduled for next week will only be done if the fever abates, so say a prayer. Thanks again to everyone for the visits, cards, food and countless other acts of kindess that have come our way.

The staples in logans head had to be made especialy for him they are actualy clydesdale horshoes sharpend on each end.

Water circles from different directions in a drain depending on which hemisphere it's in. The sink in Logans room swirls in both directions due to the immense gravitational forces from his head.

Children under the age of 14 are not  allowed in the ICU, this is due in large part to the fact that Logans killer stache was giving kids nightmares.

When logans head was shaved it was donated to locks of love. As a result of this the whole cast of barber shop 3 will have beautiful blonde weaves.

Today 8/19/09 Logan was visited by Sheriff Tony Mancuso and Gary "Stich" Guillory. They came to check on Logans condition and offer their words of encouragement with the family. We greatly appreciate this show of support and solidarity from local law enforcement. Logans condition remains unchanged and he has been running a fever that doctors are unsure if is the result of an infection or just from all the head trauma. Hopefuly his fever will subside so that the surgery scheduled on the 24th can procede as scheduled. We ask that everyone continue to voice their displeasure with the recent politics surrounding Logans incident. We are trying to get Logans story to be put on KPLC's hot button issue so that all of Logans friends family and supporters can post their comments on Kplc"s blog. Everyone please E-mail jserra@kplctv.com and or call Jim Serra at (337)437-7507. Also we encourage everyone to contact represenative Danahay by phone(337)527-5581 or send him an  email danahaym@legis.state.la.us  and express your concerns. Thanks again to all for the prayers support and words of encouragement and keep them coming!

Although he is breathing on his own Logan is still in a coma and unresponsive. He is still scheduled to undergo a procedure on the 24th to put a shunt in which will help drain the excess fluid in his head. We encourage everyone to keep up with their prayers and comments as they have been so important in helping us make it through this situation. We are deeply saddened by the fact that Logans case is being tried in the newspaper and that it seems like one man is trying to undermine the hard work of the police department and district attorney. We continue to thank everyone for their support and pray for Logans recovery.
